Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu, the daughter of late Nigerian nationalist Obafemi Awolowo, has stated that she was never told of an alleged plot to assassinate Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flag-bearer, if he wins the 2023 election.
According to POLITICS NIGERIA, Awolowo-Dosunmu claimed in a blog that there was a plot to depose Tinubu and install his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, as president.
However, Awolowo Dosunmu, the chairperson of African Newspapers of Nigeria Plc, described the report as “false, mischievous, and wicked” in a statement on Wednesday, adding that she had not spoken with any journalist about the candidates for the 2023 presidential election.
“I am not involved in partisan politics and have not been involved in partisan politics for decades.” I have not endorsed or condemned any candidate or political party. “I have no plans to do so,” she stated.
“I refuse to be dragged into a situation about which I know nothing.” I advise whoever is behind this evil lie to devote more of their time to the advancement and development of our country, Nigeria.”
