Bright Okpocha, commonly known as Basketmouth, a prominent Nigerian comedian and actor, has questioned the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, about the low likelihood of conviction for politically exposed persons in the country.

This follows two recent rallies by youths in Warri, Delta State, and Ibadan against unjustified arrests and extortion by the anti-graft agency that had no connection to cybercrime.

In response to the activities, Bawa stated that the exercise will not prevent the agency from arresting anyone who is involved in or promotes fraud in the country.

However, Basketmouth questioned the EFCC boss on his Instagram account for not arresting corrupt leaders who are bringing economic devastation in Abuja, where the agency’s headquarters are located.

“Wonderful!” he exclaimed. This is fantastic news, and I fully endorse it; however, what about those who caused economic disaster?

“They’re freely wandering throughout Abuja.” All I’m saying is that charity begins at home.”

The comedian also provided photos of previous news stories in which various government officials couldn’t account for the money under their care while still roaming freely.

“Nigeria’s vice president says $15 billion stolen in armaments procurement scandal,” reads the second screenshot.

“Nigerian snake ate millions of naira, clerk says,” the third reads.

“I advise we establish a few animal jails, their own is too much,” Basketmouth wrote.
