Skit-writing and content creation are now full-fledged professions, with several young Nigerians breaking into them and becoming household names. Household names like Ashmusy, Real Sophy, and Taaooma are some of Nigeria’s leading female skit makers, but on this list, we looked at some of the country’s most followed and richest male skit makers.
Below Legit.ng highlights the top five male skit makers in Nigeria and how many views and followers they garnered in the third quarter of 2022.
1. Sabinus (Mr Funny):
Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, aka Oga Sabinus or Mr Funny, is probably Nigeria’s most famous skit creator. ATTENTION: Please share your fantastic story with our editors! Sabinus accumulated over 47 million views during the third quarter of 2022, according to Dataleum, sustaining his content’s impressive growth since the beginning of 2022. Mr Funny shared at least 49 different skits on Instagram, gaining 500k new followers and 7.8 million likes.
2. Broda Shaggi:
Broda Shaggi, aka Samuel Animashaun Perry, is one of Nigeria’s most versatile skit creators. He is likely one of the few content creators who has appeared in over 30 Nollywood films and television series.
According to statistics, Broda Shaggi will be the second-most followed and second-highest earner in the skit-making industry in 2022. Shaggi received 46.4 million views for the 68 different skits he shared on his platforms in the third quarter of 2022. In the third quarter of 2022, he also gained over 200k new followers and 5.4m likes.
The best sadistic comedian During the time period in question, Brainjotter is the third most followed skit maker on this list. Chukwuemeka Amuzie, aka Brainjotter, is a Nigerian comedian with a distinct depressive sense of humour. Brainjotter received 20.8 million views on his Instagram page during the months of July, August, and September. He also gained 200k new followers, with his skits receiving 4 million likes over the course of the video.
4. Cute Abiola:
Cute Abiola, also known as Lawyer Kunle, is the Nigerian comedian with the fourth most viewed skits.
During the third quarter of 2022, the Kwara state-born comedian saw a significant drop in content viewership. He still has a healthy 5 million Instagram followers, but only 18.9 million views for the 54 different skits he shared on his platform. Cute Abiola also only managed to gain 100k new followers and 2.4m likes on his content.
Nosa Afolabi, better known as Lasisi, a recently engaged comedian and ranter, will be the fifth most-watched Nigerian skit maker by the third quarter of 2022.
Over the last three months, just before the start of the fourth quarter, Lasisi received 17.2 million views on the 34 skit videos he posted on his pages. He also surpassed 2 million likes and gained over 100k new followers.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Nigerian skit-making industry has expanded by leaps and bounds. During that time period, the growth of the industry cannot be discussed without mentioning the impact of kid skit makers.
They are young but are already huge in comic space. Their unique selling point is usually centered around their roles in their families.
