Justice C. L. Dabup of the Plateau State High Court in Jos is due to rule in the trial of Jonah Jang, the former Plateau governor.

Yusuf Pam, a former cashier in the office of the Secretary to the State Government, is also being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Justice Dialup adjourned the case on Thursday following the adoption of final written speeches by both the prosecution and defense counsel.

Jang and Pam are on trial for alleged criminal breach of trust and misuse of N6.3 billion in state finances.

Mike Ozekhome, Jang’s counsel, who adopted his final written address, urged the court to discharge and acquit his client.

Jang pled not guilty to the accusations brought against him, according to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

According to Ozekhome, the case lacked merit and the prosecution failed to show its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Pam’s lawyer, S.G. Odey, begged the court to discharge and acquit his client on all accusations in his final written address.

However, prosecution attorney Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) requested the court to consider the testimony of all fourteen witnesses before it.

Justice Dabup informed the counsels that the High Court will be taking a holiday and that the judge could deliver judgment at that time.

The judge postponed the matter for judgment until a date to be announced to the parties.
