Oladiwura Oladepo, Co-founder and Executive Director, Technology for Social Change and Development Initiative (Tech4Dev), has been named one of Nigeria’s ten most outstanding young people for 2022 by Junior Chambers International Nigeria (JCIN).

JCIN said in a statement issued over the weekend by its National President, Olawale Bakare, that Oladepo’s recognition is due to her role at Tech4Dev, which has seen the non-profit enterprise create, develop, and sustain programs. The purpose of the award, according to the statement, was to spread the message that action was needed across all generations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly among the youth.

The Women Techsters Initiative, according to the statement, has impacted the lives of 10 million beneficiaries across 15 African countries and beyond.

The Women Techsters Initiative, according to the statement, aims to bridge the digital and technology knowledge divide and ensure that women have equal access to opportunities. Her ambition is to train 5 million African women and girls in digital and technology skills by 2030.

The statement explained that Oladepo, who holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the prestigious Lagos Business School and from the Yale School of Management, was recently inducted into the revered Forbes Non-profit Council as a result of her contribution to eradicating poverty in Africa through Tech4Dev as well as being named the 2022 Waislitz Global Citizens’ Choice Award winner.

“I am more excited to have received this award,” Oladepo said in response to his recognition. Our individual and collective efforts to use technology to solve Africa’s most pressing problems, particularly by increasing access to decent jobs and opportunities in Africa, have continued to pay off.

“We cannot thank our friends, families, Tech4Dev team members, and our ever-supportive partners enough for always making our audacious goals a reality,” Oladepo said.

“Many congratulations to the other awardees and a big thank you to JCI Nigeria for this timely recognition,” she added.

Tech4Dev was well represented at the awards, as its Founder and Director of Development, Joel Ogunsola, was named one of Nigeria’s top ten most outstanding young people in the category of Scientific or Technological Development.

“Many congratulations to the other awardees, and a special thanks to JCI Nigeria for this timely recognition,” she concluded.
