Audu Adamu Madaki, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 12, and his convoy were ambushed by unknown gunmen in Bauchi State’s Barde Zangidi area.

POLITICS NIGERIA has learned that the AIG was shot while his orderly was killed in the attack, which took place around 2:30pm on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has declared that the people of the state will not surrender their sovereignty and liberty to insurgency and banditry, no matter how large, saying that “we will rise up to defend ourselves against any intrusion.”

He condemned the recent bloodletting by bandits and insurgents across the state, assuring that the state government will form a strong vigilante that will work closely with security agencies to neutralize the bandits and find their collaborators within the communities.

Mohammed also promised that his administration would deal harshly with any member of the public, no matter how high-ranking, who collaborated with bandits.
