The enforcement of parking laws in the state has been postponed until the second quarter of 2023 by the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA).

Insinuations that the authority was founded only to generate revenue were refuted at the same time as this by the authority.

The authority’s general manager, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, who spoke with reporters in Lagos yesterday, outlined the purpose of the parking authority as being to instill a parking culture in the state.

She said that in light of the state’s expanding population, Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu had signed a bill establishing a well-planned and coordinated parking management system for the city of the future.

According to Daily Trust, the authority was founded in 2021 but didn’t begin operations until April 2022, when it began advocating for and identifying setbacks as well as on and off-street markings.

The goal of the policy was to reduce traffic congestion, address climate change issues, and generate employment.
