Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, has approved N12.5 billion for the 35.6 km Iwo Road Interchange-Olodo-Lalupon-Odo Oba Road’s reconstruction, rehabilitation, and dualization.

The agreement pertains to the portion of the Oyo-Osun boundary that runs from Ibadan in Oyo State to Iwo in Osun State. This information was made public by the state’s commissioner for public works, infrastructure, and transportation, Professor Dahud Kehinde Sangodoyin, shortly after the governor-led state executive council meeting.
According to Sangodoyin, the project will be launched very soon by the two state governments of Oyo and Osun. He said: “Today, we held the 9th of the Oyo State Executive Council meeting where we approved the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and dualization of the 35.6km road that connects the Iwo road interchange, which is a boundary between Oyo State and Osun States.

“There are three sections to the road project. First, there is a 7.7 km distance from the Iwo Road interchange to the Olodo Bridge.

“We’ll also lengthen the bridge so that it is about 12 meters long and 24 meters wide. On the second tranche, we also want to double the distance from the bridge to Ogunmarako Junction, which is 500 meters, and from there, we’ll travel 27.33 kilometers to the Odo-Oba Bridge, which is located at the opposite end of the Oyo and Osun boundary.

“We are planning to rebuild and renovate that bridge, and the contract price is N12, 560,920,000 for an 18-month period. Messrs. Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited received the award.
The council also approved the alternative funding project approach for the N247 million project to restore, upgrade, and maintain street lights at 10 key intersections throughout Oyo State.

Barr. Seun Asamu, Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, made this information public.

He claims that the project to restore, modernize, and maintain traffic lights at specific intersections using the Alternative Funding Approach was approved by the Executive Council.

We plan to start with 10 intersections, including Adamasingba, Salvation Army, Queen Elizabeth-Secretariat, NTA-Government House, Oba Akinbiyi-Premier, Secretariat-Bodija Market, and Awolowo-Sango-Mokola-Elewure in Ibadan, he said.

“In addition, we have the Owode junction in Oyo and the Sango-Isaletaba-Ajegunle junction in Saki. These were given the go-ahead for immediate implementation after the administrative procedure.
