Some former housemates who took part in the reality show that propelled many of them to fame have chosen political positions.
A list of former BBNaija housemates who have held political positions is provided below:
- Cindy Okafor received special recognition from the Abia State Government in 2019. Okezie Ikpeazu, the state governor, named her an ambassador for the “Made in Aba” initiative.
“I am so thrilled to represent such a worthwhile cause,” she wrote.

- Gedoni Ekpata, a former “Pepper Dem” housemate, was appointed by Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade as his Special Assistant on Garment Factory and Branding in 2020.
Khafi Kareem, Gedoni’s fiancée and a former housemate on the reality series, shared the news of the engagement on her Instagram page.
The statement read: “@gedoni has been appointed as Governor Ben Ayade’s Special Assistant on Garment Factory and Branding.”
3. The following year, Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, appointed Laycon, the “Lock Down” edition winner, to the position of Youth Ambassador.
The government also gave Laycon a three-bedroom bungalow and N5M in addition to the appointment.
Still in 2020, Rebecca “Nengi” Hampson and Tarimotimi Sinclair aka Trikytee, two additional “Lock Down” housemates, were chosen to serve as the governor of the Bayelsa State, Douye Diri’s senior special assistants.
Though Trikytee’s portfolio was kept a secret, Diri appointed Nengi, the second runner up of the fifth season, as a Senior Special Assistant on Girl Child Development.
Nengi, a 22-year-old Bayelsa state entrepreneur who finished as the second runner up for the season, thanked the governor for all of the support she received while living in the Big Brother house and said she enjoyed promoting Bayelsa.

On Friday, November 19, 2021, Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi named Hazel Onoduenyi, a.k.a. Whitemoney, the competition’s winner, as the state’s ambassador for the arts.
Ugwuanyi, who spoke at the event, called Whitemoney a “worthy son of Enugu state.”
