The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been ordered by Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to start the process for allowing Nigerians living abroad to vote in elections.
The APC’s deputy national publicity secretary, Yakubu Murtala Ajaka, who also rallied Nigerians abroad for his party, said Bola Tinubu’s passion for youth engagement and development sets him apart from other candidates in remarks he made on Saturday at a Town Hall meeting in London for young Nigerians.
Ajaka reiterated that only Tinubu has a better understanding of young people and would make it possible for young Nigerians living abroad to take part in and contribute to the birth of a new Nigeria.
The next step for INEC will be to begin planning the voting process for overseas voters. By doing this, Nigerians who reside outside of Nigeria can exercise their right to vote and take an active role in our mission to create a brand-new, prosperous country whose future should be trusted to the next generation.
Similar to this, Nigerians abroad have the right to vote in elections as crucial participants, giving them the chance to contribute to the rebirth and, of course, the nurturing of our democracy and a better Nigeria. This gives Nigerians living abroad the chance to vote for leaders with the zeal and dedication to advance the country and enhance the quality of life for the populace.
According to Ajaka, the lack of voting in elections has continued to deprive the country of a significant voice in the process of selecting its leaders.
