The Lagos State Government has reassured residents that the Lekki-Epe Expressway will be completed on time, and has advised motorists to obey traffic signs at the construction site.
Engr. (Mrs.) Aramide Adeyoye, Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure, made the statement on Thursday after visiting the Awoyaya Axis of the Epe Expressway with several stakeholders such as Craneburg Construction, Lekki Estate Resident Association (LERSA), and others in response to a complainant about the expressway’s ongoing construction work (from Eleko to Abraham Adesanya).
During the inspection, Adeyoye stated that a change in attitude on the part of motorists and commuters will go a long way toward restoring sanity to the road as construction on the Lekki-Epe Expressway ramps up.
Adeyoye stated that the Lagos State government is aware of commuters’ and residents’ frustrations, but plans to replicate the feat of the 18-kilometer-long Phase I of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, which is 95 percent complete, by delivering one kilometer per month on the 16-kilometer-long Phase II of the project, which is from Eleko Junction to Abraham Adesanya.
“We want to reassure our citizens that the Lagos State government is working hard to improve their lives.” Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has done a lot for the people of Lagos State in terms of democracy dividends, and our work can be seen throughout the state. Phase I of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, which runs from Eleko Junction to Epe, is nearly finished. “We will soon begin full construction on Phase II of the project, which will run from Eleko Junction to Abraham Adesanya,” she said.
Hon. Sesan Olowa, Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Council Development Area, lauded Governor Babajide Sanwo-developmental Olu’s administration’s strides and stated that the Council is doing everything possible to assist the state government.
“We are overjoyed, and the people of Ibeju Lekki will support any and all efforts in this direction.” “We will work closely with the contractor and the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to manage any challenges that may arise during construction,” he said.
In his remarks, Suleiman Bello, Chairman of the Infrastructure Committee of the Lekki Estates Residents and Stakeholders Association (LERSA), pledged continued collaboration with the state government to ensure coordinated traffic management on the Lekki/Epe Expressway Corridor as the project progresses.
Bello, who stated that they are always on the ground monitoring and providing feedback to both residents and the government, urged commuters to be patient on that axis and follow the rules in order for the work to proceed smoothly.
“Our role is to ensure that we get the best possible price.” The funds spent on this project belong to you and me. As a result, we must obtain the best value for all of our residents and stakeholders. We must instruct our residents and stakeholders to remain calm while on this construction stretch, because if we all behave when we arrive, the road project will proceed quickly and smoothly. We also have a responsibility to protect those who are vulnerable.
Craneburg Construction’s Project Manager stated that the Eleko to Epe Road construction is already completed ahead of schedule, and that the current Eleko back to Abraham Adesanya construction has also begun.
He pleaded with drivers to be patient and to obey traffic laws and detours.
The reconstruction of the Lekki-Epe Expressway (Eleko to Epe T-Junction) begun by Governor Babajide Sanwo-administration Olu’s is nearly complete, and the second phase of the project, ‘Eleko Junction back to Abraham Adesanya,’ has begun and will be completed as well.
