Following the successful delivery of the first set of Super Post Panamax State-of-the-art Ship to Shore, STS, Cranes and 10 Rubber Tyred Gantries, RTGs on July 1, 2022, and the delivery of the second batch shipment critical to the commencement of operations comprising two STS Cranes with 115 packages of accessories and five RTGs with 270 packages of accessories on August 5, 2022, the Lekki Deep Seaport is set to be completed on schedule ahead of the commencement of

Mr Muazu Jaji Sambo, Minister of Transportation, expressed delight at the speed and quality of work at the Port site during his first official visit.

Sambo praised the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, for their tremendous assistance in meeting the project deadlines at Lekki Port.

He directed the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NPA, and Lekki Port to take immediate action to ensure that the Deep Seaport is connected by rail.

Mohammed Bello Koko, Managing Director of NPA, stated in his remarks: “The letter of intent between Lekki Deep Seaport and its financial partners was signed in April 2019, and we are on track to be operational by 2022. This project represents the possibilities that tenacity of purpose can bring to fruition “.

In his presentation to the Minister and his entourage, Mr. Du Ruogang, Managing Director of Lekki Deep Seaport, revealed that phase 1 construction is nearing completion and is currently 96% complete.
