The Nigeria Labour Congress has praised the Lagos government for the planned salary increases for state government employees.

Mrs Funmi Sessi, the NLC Chairman, made the remark in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Lago.

“The announcement was timed perfectly,” she said.

According to NAN, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the rise on Oct. 4 at a meeting with civil servants of the state public service at the state secretariat in Alausa.

“He stated that the anticipated increase is influenced by the country’s high level of inflation, which has been painful on citizens.”

However, the governor did not specify the proportion of the increase or when it would begin, only that mechanisms were being worked out.

“If we look at the motivation behind the rise, it is a well-planned increase,” Sessi added.

However, in the agreement that we signed during the 2016 new minimum wage, it was indicated that we will evaluate the wage after three years.
