Two Internet scammers have been found guilty and sentenced by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) Benin Zonal Command.

Harmony Enobakhare and Lucky Uhunamure Osamudiamen, two fraudsters, were imprisoned by Justices Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State, and Efe Ikponmwonba of the Edo State High Court in Benin City.

On September 28, 2022, Enobakhare was sentenced to prison after entering a plea of guilty to a charge involving the retention of N518, 114, 049. 35k (fifty-one million, eighty-eight million, one hundred and fourteen thousand, forty-nine thousand, five hundred naira), which is the proceeds of illegal activities.

In a similar vein, Justice Abdu Dogo of the Federal High Court in Makurdi has found three internet fraudsters guilty and sentenced them to various prison terms.

On September 28, 2022, Bello Emmanuel Adeoza, Sunday Ogbonna, and Somadina Kingsley Madubuke were sentenced to prison.

Upon being charged by the EFCC’s Makurdi Zonal Command with criminal impersonation and point of sale, or POS, fraud, they were found guilty after entering a plea to a single count separate charge.

When the charge was read to each of them individually, they all entered pleas of guilty.

Ramiah Ikhanaede, the prosecution’s attorney, asked the court to find them guilty and sentence them appropriately in light of their pleas.

As part of his ruling, Justice Dogo gave Somadina a choice between three years in prison and a N1 million fine. He should also reimburse his victims for N1.8 million via the EFCC.

He also lost his phone and the $800 that was discovered in his bank account. Moreover, the court froze all of his bank accounts.
