Olajide Adediran, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor of Lagos State, has explained why Funke Akindele was selected as his running mate.

The actress, according to Adediran, will enhance his chances of winning the general election in 2023.

He revealed this on Twitter on Tuesday, confirming Akindele’s bid for the position of deputy governor.

He declared, “I urge the entire people to join forces with me and my running mate, who will strengthen my candidacy.

“I made my choice for a running mate based on a clear knowledge of the task at hand and the requirement to collaborate with another co-visionary who shares my enthusiasm for emancipating the good people of Lagos.

This road necessitates concentration, resiliency, and tenacity. My running mate is a kindhearted person with a long record of volunteerism and advocacy.

“An Ikorodu native who has successfully changed our society through a number of her endeavors.

“I am pleased to announce Barrister Olufunke Ayotunde Akindele as my running partner and the PDP’s nominee for deputy governor of Lagos in the general elections of 2023.

We will work as a team to help you and give you some fresh air.

Akindele announced her candidacy while also saying that she will put her acting career on hold to focus on her new job.
