According to Mallam Garba Attahiru Madami, the REC for Kwara State, 23 members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have been found engaging in illegal voter registration and are currently undergoing disciplinary action.

In a media briefing on Wednesday at the INEC Stakeholders Forum in Ilorin, Madami, who made the revelation, declined to go into further detail. Political party representatives, security agencies, and many other people were in attendance.

The forum, according to the REC, was required as the first step in making sure the elections next year go off without a hitch.

I want to let everyone know that we are prepared to safeguard the electoral process by holding elections that are free, fair, transparent, peaceful, and credible and that the Kwaran people will find acceptable, he said.

The results of voter registration and election preparations were further detailed in numbers by Mallam Madami through his officers.

Only 287 393 new voters in Kwara are eligible to vote, according to the information that is available. The total number of voters in the state now stands at 1.7 million.
