Oba Rufus Adejugbe, Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, is scheduled to travel to the town on Monday in an effort to mediate a peaceful resolution to the 400-year conflict between the residents of Imesi-Ekiti and the Ewi-in-Council.

Oba Olatunji Olatunde, the Onimesi of Imesi-Ekiti, announced this in a statement on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti.

Imesi-Ekiti is located in the state’s Gbonyin Local Government area, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Adejugbe would be the first Ewi of Ado-Ekiti to visit Imesi-Ekiti in 400 years, according to Olatunde.

He claimed that when Oba Rufus Adejugbe set foot on the soil of Imesi-Ekiti, 400 years after the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, he would be standing on the precipice of history.

The annual “Odun Ade Festival,” also known as the “Festival of Reconciliation,” will also be attended by the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti as a welcome ceremony for the local chief.

Due to a rift, he claimed, which had sowed discord among the inhabitants of Ado-Ekiti and Imesi-Ekiti, no reigning Ewi of Ado-Ekiti had ever visited the town since 400 years earlier.

Olatunji claimed that everything was set up properly to host the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti and other traditional heads of state at the festival.

“The hunters are getting ready for the customary gunfire and war dance to welcome Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, who is seen as a father and a forerunner of peace, prosperity, and bloom.

The Oba Gabriel Ayodele Adejuwon, the Onisan of Isan, and the Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council of Ekiti would also be present, he added. The Ewi of Ado-Ekiti will serve as the Imesi people’s home during this year’s “Odun Ade” festival.

Oba Joseph Adewole, the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, Oba Adeniyi Ajakaiye, and other traditional rulers are also anticipated to attend the festival as guests of honor.

According to NAN, notable Nigerians would be given traditional titles, while others would receive awards for their achievements. (NAN)
