For the 2020–2021 and 2021–2022 sessions, the Federal University, Oye–Ekiti has announced an immediate return to academic activities for new and returning students.

The university senate also gave its approval for two academic sessions—the second semester of the 2020–2021 academic session and the first semester of the 2021–2022 academic session—to run concurrently, according to Wole Balogun, the vice chancellor’s special adviser on media matters.

The approval, according to Balogun, was “with a view to make up for the loss of eight months to the just suspended industrial strike action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities,” she said in a statement titled “FUOYE resumes academic activities.”

According to him, lectures for the second semester for returning students and the start of the resumption and registration process for new students began on October 17, 2022, respectively, in a circular dated October 18 and signed by the Registrar of FUOYE, Ibrahim Mufutau.

The 2021/2022 session’s new students will participate in a three-day orientation program that starts on October 19 and ends on Friday, October 21.

On Monday, October 24, lectures for new students begin. On Thursday, October 27, registration for new students closes. On Friday, October 28, the university holds the matriculation ceremony for new students for the academic year 2021–2022.

According to Balogun, the first semester of 2021–2022 will end in January 2023, but the second semester of 2020–2021 will also end in December 2022. The start of the upcoming session 2022–2023, for which admission screening is currently underway, could occur in June 2023.
