Mangbon T. Amos, the Rector of the Federal School of Statistics in Manchok, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
According to reports obtained by Naija News on Wednesday morning, the assailants stormed Manchok late Monday night, August 1, and kidnapped the academician.

According to a source who allegedly disclosed the incident to The PUNCH, the gunmen arrived in the community around 8 p.m. and shot one person dead while also kidnapping a lady and the school rector.

The resident, identified as John Auta, told the news outlet that the terrorists, who were armed with sophisticated weapons, began shooting sporadically before kidnapping the pair.

He bemoaned the fact that terrorists had attacked some communities in the local government and that security officials were not doing enough to stop the situation.

Auta challenged the government to come to the citizens’ aid by deploying heavy security forces in strategic locations to limit the activities of these criminal elements.

Another source told the medium at the time of publication that the kidnappers had yet to contact family members of the school administration.

According to Naija News, the State Police Command has also not issued an official statement on the incident.

The incident comes just three weeks after two Ad hoc staff members in charge of distributing mosquito nets were gunned down on the same LGA’s Zangang-Zankan road.
