Gunmen kidnapped Ondo State’s traditional head, the Oniku of Iku, in Ikare Akoko.

High Chief Mikaila Bello, the monarch, and three others were kidnapped at the Ago Panu axis on the Owo-Ikare road in Ondo State.

Others kidnapped include Yèyé Gbafinro, a former House of Assembly Candidate for Akoko North-East Constituency; Adeniran Adeyemo, an All Progressives Congress chieftain; and Bashiru Adekile, a community leader.

THEWILL learned that the victims were kidnapped Thursday evening while traveling from Akure to Ikare.

A hunter who served as a vigilante in the area told reporters that the driver of the abducted victims’ vehicle was shot by the gunmen and is now being treated at the Federal Medical Center, owo.

“The gunmen stabbed the driver of the vehicle, but we were able to rescue him alone and rush him to the hospital.”

“He’s there now, receiving treatment for wounds all over his body.” “Unfortunately, these people (bandits) are still lurking around our forest in Ondo,” said the source.

At the time of filing this report, the kidnappers had not contacted the victims’ families or demanded a ransom.

When contacted, Funmi Odunlami, the state police command’s spokesperson, asked for more time to investigate the incident.
