The minimal cut-off point for admissions in the 2022–2023 academic session has been established by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, or JAMB, and leaders of educational institutions in the nation.

The minimum cut-off score for universities is 140, while polytechnics and institutes of education have a minimum of 100, according to the 2022 Policy Meeting on Admissions, which was presided over by the Minister of Education in Abuja.

The implication is that each school has the right to set its own cut-off mark, even up to 220, according to the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, who declared the cut-off after votes by vice chancellors of universities, rectors of polytechnics, and provosts of colleges of education.

Nobody, however, will be permitted to score less than the agreed-upon minimum cutoff points of 100 for polytechnics, 100 for colleges of education, and 140 for universities.

At the discussion, it was also suggested that the admissions standards be reviewed and that heads of tertiary institutions be given a 10% admissions discretionary power.
