The rumor mill is churning around Chelsea and USMNT forward Christian Pulisic, who is looking for more playing time.

During a mailbag Q&A session, The Athletic’s Newcastle United reporter Chris Waugh stated that the club is open to bringing in the winger if Chelsea gives him permission to leave.

Pulisic is being considered as a wide option, according to Waugh, ‘though the American may not be made available.’

This could be due to Chelsea’s lack of attacking talent rather than their desire to keep Pulisic in the lineup.

If the rumors are true, Chelsea is willing to move the Hershey, Pennsylvania native.

According to CMW, Pulisic was offered up by Chelsea in a straight swap deal, with the American moving to Roma in exchange for Nicolo Zaniolo.

However, Roma manager Jose Mourinho appears to want to keep the young Italian after intervening late to block a deal that would have seen Zaniolo move to Tottenham for £40 million.

Chelsea appears to be willing to move on from a player who does not appear to have a set place in the starting XI for the right price or the right player, especially after the acquisition of Raheem Sterling this summer.

Furthermore, according to the Guardian, Tuchel does not trust Pulisic, with whom he previously worked at Borussia Dortmund.

Tuchel may have no choice but to use Pulisic as a bench option in the meantime, despite his lack of trust.

Some pundits praised the American after his performance in the team’s first match against Everton.

One of them was NBC’s Robbie Mustoe, who said Pulisic should demand more playing time.

‘Pulisic comes into the game looking lively and sharp,’ Mustoe said.

‘He should be knocking on the manager’s door, saying, “How about giving me a shot?” These other guys have had a lot of chances recently.’
