Oluponna Youths Development Forum in Ayedire Local Government Area of Osun State yesterday warned a Civil Society Organization, Advocacy for Advancement of Peace and Harmony in Africa Initiative (ADAPHAI), not to disturb the peaceful coexistence in the community on the basis of false claims that a crisis involving the Olupanna Stool is imminent.

The forum also warned the civil society against “planning to cause crisis in the community” and urged the state governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, to disregard the vituperations due to their lack of merit.

The Coordinator of the development forum, Oyebisi Yusuf, noted that the community had never experienced a crisis when discussing its position on the Olupanna Stool yesterday.

Therefore, he pleaded with the organization to refrain from upsetting the community now that the Olupanna Stool issue has been addressed and resolved.

After the death of the former Olupo of Oluponna, Oba Emmanuel Onaolapo Oyebanji, Fadare II, on January 3, 2022, the advocacy group Advocacy for Advancement of Peace and Harmony in Africa Initiative (ADAPHAI) had called for restraint in the process of the enthronement of a new king in Oluponna, in Ayedire LGA of the state.

The group forewarned that some kingmakers in the town’s covert and unbalanced approach to choosing a new king “through the back door” would backfire and disturb the peace of the sleepy town and Osun State.

As a result, Yusuf, the forum’s moderator, condemned the covert attempt by Sulaimon Suberu, the group’s leader (ADAPHAI), “and his sponsors to paint the effort aimed at making a round peg in a round hole in a bad light.”
