Tafa Balogun, the former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has died.

He was 74 years old.

Balogun was the IGP during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo from 2002 to 2005.

He was also the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Kano Zone 1.

In recent times, the former IGP had not been seen in public.

He was born on August 25, 1947, in Ila Orangun, Osun State, and was convicted in 2005 on eight counts of corruption. His corruption case was reopened in 2020.
