The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has requested that the Chairman of the Body of Benchers (BOB), Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), recuse himself from his position to allow for the investigation of a partner in his law firm, Ms Adekunbi Ogunde.

NBA President Olumide Akpata issued the directive in a letter titled “Re: Petition Against Ms Adekunbi Ogunde By The Nigerian Bar Association For Alleged Misconduct,” dated July 22, 2022, and addressed to Chief Olanipekun.

The Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) will investigate Ms Ogunde for alleged professional misconduct.

A few weeks ago. Ms Ogunde was accused of sending an email to Saipem Contracting Nigeria Limited soliciting a brief that was already being handled by Ajumogobia and Okeke, the law firm of another SAN, Odein Ajumogobia.

The brief was said to be related to the Rivers State government’s ongoing $130 million case against Saipem Contracting Nigeria Limited at the Rivers State High Court.
