Bola Tinubu’s relationship with agitators like Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo and Asari Dakubo, according to former presidential candidate and APC chieftain Adamu Garba, is “pragmatic, strategic, and necessary.”

Garba made this statement in a recent interview on Arise TV, which POLITICS NIGERIA was watching.

The APC’s presidential candidate is Tinubu.

It is “an excellent move towards a general national reconciliation,” in Garba’s opinion, for the former governor of Lagos State to extend an olive branch to bandits, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) outlaws, Eastern Security Network (ESN) members, and Boko Haram terrorists.

“As far as I can tell, I believe he is being practical. Since the dictatorial era of General Sani Abacha, there have been numerous attacks against the alleged Niger Delta agitation. Was there any achievement?

“So who are you as a leader not to accommodate them if these people express a desire to participate in the formal economy and work for Nigeria, not against Nigeria?

“In a situation where Tompolo, who previously committed an evil act, now repents and claims he wants to do good for Nigeria, you will not be a good leader to get rid of him because you will produce additional Tompolos who will later turn against Nigeria,” said Garba.

A former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta named Tompolo and Tinubu met last week.

Along with traditional leaders and other Niger Delta stakeholders, the 70-year-old visited Tompolo where he spoke with the locals about his plans for the upcoming general elections in 2023.
