Oluwole Adetiran, a renowned clergyman who was 75 years old, passed away on Thursday. The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret. ), expressed his condolences to the Adetiran family and described Oluwole Adetiran as an accomplished musicologist.

President Buhari mourns Adetiran, composer of the NYSC anthem, according to a statement released on Thursday and signed by Femi Adesina, his special adviser on media and publicity.

“The President urges the family to take solace in the quality of life lived by the departed, having left his footprints in the sands of time as the composer of the NYSC Anthem, sung throughout the country and inspiring countless youths,” according to Adesina.

“President Buhari prays God to rest the soul of the former Head, Department of Music, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Director of Music, Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, and holder of the Member of the Order of the Niger National Award.”

He, therefore, urged the younger generation to learn lessons from the devotion of the departed to both secular and spiritual things and to excel in all.
